Choreographer Cecilia Moisio has won the Prize of the Dutch Dance Days Maastricht 2014. The winner was announced by alderman of culture in Maastricht Mieke Damsma on October 3rd during the first day of the Dutch Dance Days. The prize for young choreographic talent consists of 12.000 euro that will be invested in making new work for next years festival. The prize money is given out by the municipality of Maastricht.
Moisio won the prize for her concept Mum’s The Word, a performance on mothers and daughters that will premiere at the Dance Days in 2015. The jury said: ‘The wilful signature of Cecilia Moisio, strongly growing in her previous work, was precent in her plan and made us curious. (…) It wil be a performance that will move all: man, woman, young, aged. This choreographer bites into her audience…’
