Een dansopera over vrouwelijke kracht in het mannelijke lichaam, een ode aan nieuwe mannelijkheid.

AN(I’M)A is een co-creatie van theatermaker en choreograaf Cecilia Moisio en
multidisciplinair kunstenaar en zanger Lester David, geïnspireerd op Carl Jung’s concept
van de Anima – de vrouwelijke energie binnen de mannelijke psyche.
Op het toneel zien we een man uiteenvallen. Zijn oude identiteit brokkelt af en daaronder
opent zich een leegte. Hierdoor ontstaat de weg naar balans en het toelaten van zijn
innerlijke vrouwelijke kracht.

AN(I’M)A speelt zich af in een rituele, visueel overdonderende wereld waarin dans, theater
en stem versmelten met elementen van pop en opera. In het midden staat een cirkelvormige
lichtinstallatie, een metafoor voor het onderbewuste. Binnen deze cirkel daalt de man af in
zijn innerlijke landschap, op zoek naar verbinding en transformatie.

Moisio’s expressieve, precieze danstaal fuseert met David’s fysieke methode Subconscious
Movement, in een performance die schakelt tussen vloeiend en grotesk, teder en explosief.
De soundscape, volledig opgebouwd uit hun stemmen, omhult het geheel met een intense,
buitenaardse sfeer. Humor fungeert als sleutel tot bevrijding, lucht en herkenning.

AN(I’M)A is een hypnotiserende solo over loslaten, herinneren en hervinden. Een
voorstelling waarin kwetsbaarheid geen zwakte is, maar de poort naar een nieuwe vorm van
mannelijkheid – gebaseerd op zorgzaamheid, emotionele intelligentie en innerlijke kracht.
Het is een oproep tot herdefinitie, een uitnodiging om ruimte te maken voor het volle
menselijke spectrum. Een ervaring die je niet snel zal loslaten.

Cecilia en Lester willen dit stuk opdragen aan hun vaders, die beiden het afgelopen jaar zijn overleden.

Over Lester David

Lester David is een multi-award winnende kunstenaar (choreografie, theater), muziekproducent, artistiek en creatief directeur, afkomstig uit Caracas, Venezuela. Zijn werk verkent hoe kunst kan dienen als een helend medium en een ruimte voor het uitbreiden van het collectieve bewustzijn.

Zijn muziek is net zo eclectisch als zijn artistieke praktijk; een introspectieve reis, waarin Venezolaans folklore, Caribische ritmes, housemuziek, jazz, reggaeton en opera nuances worden samengevoegd binnen de structuur van popmuziek, op een frisse en ongekende manier. Het varieert van ontroerende ballades die de ziel raken tot aanstekelijke beats die het publiek in beweging brengen, en biedt een diverse muzikale ervaring die enkele van de kleuren van het menselijke bestaan weerspiegelt.

AN(I’M)A

A dance opera about the feminine energy within a male body, an ode to a new kind of
masculinity.

Co-created by theatermaker and choreographer Cecilia Moisio and multidisciplinary artist
and singer Lester David, AN(I’M)A is inspired by Carl Jung’s concept of the Anima – the
feminine force within the male psyche. Set in a ritualistic and visually captivating world,
AN(I’M)A is a hypnotic solo where dance, theatre, and voice collide with elements of pop and
opera.
On stage, a man confronts the collapse of his identity within a circular light installation — a
subconscious realm where he seeks balance, the feminine within, and transformation
beyond his conscious identity.

Moisio’s theatrical, physical dance language merges with David’s Subconscious Movement
method, while an otherworldly soundscape surrounds the space. The performance moves
between the grotesque and the tender, with humor as a liberating force.

AN(I’M)A reimagines masculinity itself: not built on dominance and control, but on listening,
caring, and embracing vulnerability. An invitation into a world both tender and powerful, one
that stays with you long after the performance has ended.

Cecilia and Lester want to dedicate this piece to their fathers who both passed away this past year

Over Lester David

Lester David is a multi-award-winning artist (choreography, theatre), music producer, and artistic and creative director, originally from Caracas, Venezuela. His work explores how art can serve as a healing medium and as a space for expanding collective consciousness.

His music is as eclectic as his artistic practice: an introspective journey where Venezuelan folklore, Caribbean rhythms, house music, jazz, reggaeton, and operatic nuances are woven into the structure of pop music in a fresh and unprecedented way. It ranges from soul-stirring ballads to infectious beats that set audiences in motion, offering a diverse musical experience that reflects some of the many colors of human existence.
