ADI(C)SCO

In the beginning of 2024 Cecilia Moisio is joining the third edition of Club Invites. For this special project Club Guy & Roni invite dance makers they find inspiring to create new work. Cecilia previously worked together with Club Guy & Roni and made ‘V’ – the absolute festival hit at De Parade Festival 2022.

ADI(C)SCO is a seemingly endless dance trip in search of intoxication, of continuing past your limits and losing yourself in it. Or in other terms: addiction. The performance breathes the atmosphere of the disco era, in which the club scene and club drugs became popular. ADI(C)SCO is a party that gets out of hand and never ends. With this performance, Cecilia wants to address the taboos and shame surrounding addiction. In the research phase preceding the creation she is exploring theme with surviving addicts and children of addicts.

ADI(C)SCO Laboratory

Research for ADI(C)SCO started with the interviews of the people who have experienced addiction themselves and their family members, as well as professionals in the field of addiction, recovery and adaptation processes. They talked to Cecilia about how addiction can personally affect someone, the way they look at themselves and what the causes for it might be. A big part of the conversation was about the incredible resilience, determination and strength that recovery process takes. The openness of the interviewees and their desire to share was truly inspiring.

One of the experts who took part in the interview was Meindert Inderwisch – a writer, poet and gestalt therapist.

The footage taken during the interviews and rehearsals for ADI(C)SCO will become a special documentary by Paul Sixta that is going to be shown along the performance itself.
